King Charles and Meghan Markle had a good relationship while she was still part of the Royal Family. Not much is known of Charles\u2019 feelings about her nowadays, but one can imagine it\u2019s quite a strained relationship. Still, the king has had a nickname for her, and it\u2019s not one you\u2019d imagine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

King Charles, then Prince Charles, was quite surprised when he found out his son, Prince Harry, was dating Meghan Markle. At first, as claimed in royal experts Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand\u2019s book\u00a0Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of the Modern Royal Family<\/em>, he had no idea that Harry was dating Meghan.<\/p>\n

According to the authors, the first time he heard about their relationship was a mere 20 minutes before it was made public. King Charles and his staff at Clarence House were said to have been left \u201ccrushed\u201d by the surprise news regarding Harry\u2019s new girlfriend.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, though, this wasn\u2019t necessarily because Harry was Charles\u2019s son, but rather more because Charles feared it would overshadow his royal duties.<\/p>\n

The royal authors added: \u201cThe team at Clarence House, which had spent months putting together Prince Charles\u2019 tour in the hopes that it would be covered significantly, was crushed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, Scobie and Durand claimed that although King Charles was \u201cdisappointed\u201d with the announcement\u2019s timing, he \u201cunderstood\u201d that the couple needed to share the news about their relationship.<\/p>\n

King Charles nickname for Meghan<\/h2>\n

As time passed, however, Charles and Meghan\u2019s relationship grew stronger. The woman his son dated became his daughter-in-law, and Charles even followed her down the aisle as she had banned her father from attending.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Palace insider Charlotte Griffiths wrote for the\u00a0Mail\u00a0that he called her \u201cTungsten\u201d \u2013 a chemical element that has the highest melting point. It was a \u201cterm of endearment,\u201d Griffiths wrote in 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrince Charles (now King Charles) admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy. It\u2019s become a term of endearment,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
